The Story of The Practice…
We had a few quiet years as a band, partly enforced by covid and then life got in the way and it took us a while to get things going again. We spent a year playing as many shows as possible with the material we already had, before deciding it was time to write a whole new live show with some new songs. Before doing that, we wanted to commemorate the set we had been playing up until then with a live studio session. This became The Practice, watch it in full below:

Great.
What's it about?
This song was part of a three-song EP that was meant to be released in 2020 until the world ground to a halt. We finally revisited it and released in 2022. This was the second set of songs we’d recorded and released ourselves. We were trying to build up some of the momentum we’d had pre-2020 so this felt like a step in the right direction, born out of a love for friends and having people around you.
They don’t mind if I stay the night
There’s nothing more unnerving than the sound of my heart beating
There’s nothing that calms me more than the sound of yours replying
Have you thought about me lately?
Cos I’ve been thinking back
To the times we had
Running ‘til our lungs collapsed
A rush of blood is what I need
Acting on impulse is guaranteed
Without breaking a sweat I begin to forget a summer of sunburn
A summer of regret
Have you thought about me lately?
Cos I’ve been thinking too
I don’t know where I’d be
If it wasn’t for you
Call me about nothing, I want to hear your voice ‘til it calms me
Too Late
What's it about?
We lost momentum again after the 2022 release and decided to give things one last push coming into 2025. This song was part of another three-song release at the time and ended up being my favourite out of the three. I guess the lyrics came from a bleak outlook on the world and feeling somewhat hopeless.
Seems like every day there’s something else ‘gone wrong’
I thought about it and I couldn’t tell a difference between causes for the fauna dying out
Is it too late to overwrite the save?
I think the worst might happen
Snow no longer falls here
It’s just affiliated water
The onus is on us that’s how its spelt
Realistically, are we any better off?
Seems like an awful lot of effort and our time

The Story of The Outtakes…
Along with our live show, we also wanted to record some of our other favourite songs to play live over the years. We reimagined two songs from our Demos EP: Science and Say It, and included some of our favourite covers. Your Graduation has been a mainstay in our live set for nearly as long as we've been a band, and recently we've loved getting someone up on stage to sing the second verse with us. Robbers is one of our favourite 1975 songs and our version combines it with Daylily by Movements to make the choruses even bigger!
